Paul Miller & Co-Counsel Win $22.5 Million Judgment for Patients of Toronto Cosmetic Clinic

Paul Miller Dr 6ix lawsuit

HSH partner Paul Miller’s landmark class action victory against a Toronto plastic surgeon who filmed thousands of patients with undisclosed cameras, is drawing widespread media attention.

On May 26, 2026, the Ontario Superior Court ordered Dr. Martin Jugenburg, known on social media as “Dr. 6ix”, to pay $22.5 million to approximately 7,000 former patients of his Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Institute. The Court found that Dr. Jugenburg operated 24 undisclosed surveillance cameras in operating rooms, consultation rooms, and recovery areas without patient knowledge or consent between 2017 and 2018. Justice Schabas found that Dr. Jugenburg’s conduct was “reprehensible,” concluding that he had placed his own interests above those of his patients and “abused his position of trust and betrayed his vulnerable patients from whom he was profiting.”

The judgment has been widely covered, including by CBC News, CP24, the Toronto Star, People and blogTO. Coverage highlighted the emotional impact on patients, many of whom described feeling violated, humiliated, and betrayed, and noted that several now experience anxiety and reluctance to seek medical care as a result of the privacy breach.
