We are proud Silver Sponsors for the Helmets on Kids kick-off event in our continued effort to promote bike safety and prevent brain injuries. This year the media launch was held at the Dixie Public School in Mississauga.
Helmets were presented to the Grade 3 and 4 student assembled, but first were provided bicycle safety tips, including and how to wear a helmet.
Did you know, for example, that bike helmets should be replaced every five years?
The event was attended by a number of community representatives from:
- Peel Regional Police
- Peel District School Board
- Peel Regional Police, Safety Village
- Brain Injury Assocation of Peel/Halton
- Howie, Sacks & Henry
- Henderson Structured Settlements
About the Helmets on Kids Partnership
The Helmets on Kids Community Partnership was started by the Brain Injury Association of London & Region along with the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in 2002. Since its first event, held in London, Ontario, this initiative has distributed more than 15,000 helmets to students.
Over the years OTLA members have expanded the Helmets on Kids campaign to other cities and regions across the province and HSH is proud to be a sponsor in the Peel Region.
This program is intended to put a helmet on the head of every child who needs one, and provides education and awareness about bicycle helmet use. In addition, the program also includes a videotape presentation and educational material for distribution at local schools.
This year the Helmets On Kids Kick Off Event took place at the Dixie Public School in Mississauga.
