April 26, 2018 – Valerie Lord Mentored Articling Students at WLAO Event

HSH Associate Valerie Lord paid it forward as a mentor to articling students at a Women’s Law Association of Ontario (WLAO) event on April 26th.

What I Wish I Knew When I  Started My Legal Career

The transition from articling or the LPP to lawyering can prompt many questions. How is the role of an associate different from that of a student? Are the expectations and demands more rigorous, and how do I prepare myself for this transition? Can/how do I negotiate my associate contract? How do I navigate job hunting outside of law school? Is my workplace right for me? Once I get called to the Bar, what’s next!?

The WLAO Articling Chapter invites you to join us at our mentoring event to have your questions answered by lawyers with years of experience.

The event was held at the TLA Lounge on April 26, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Attendees had the opportunity to rotate through multiple speed-mentoring sessions in small groups, and later, meet and mingle with a variety of accomplished lawyers from diverse practice areas.
