We are pleased to share the news that our Partner Melissa Miller has been recognized as a Lexpert Rising Stars 2021: Leading Lawyers Under 40 award winner. The award was presented during the virtual Young Lawyers Summit on November 25, 2021.
Melissa has shown incredible determination in the fight against nursing home negligence, representing a lengthy list of clients who suffered as a result of COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care homes, as well as hundreds of families whose loved ones were victims of nursing home negligence before the pandemic began. In addition to her busy caseload, Melissa is a co-founder of the grassroots advocacy group Canadians4LTC (C4LTC) which has been campaigning across the country for improved conditions in long-term care homes. We are very proud of the work that Melissa is doing inside and outside of the courtroom to protect our most vulnerable citizens, and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition of her efforts.
The Lexpert Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 Awards honour young lawyers who have made outstanding contributions in their careers. The awardees are decided though a multi-stage process in which hundreds of nominations are narrowed down to a shortlist, which is then reviewed by a panel of esteemed legal leaders who determine the final winners.
