Over the last number of weeks, HSH has been working to assist families who have suffered tragic losses in the downing of UIA PS752. We have been retained by a number of those families. We are concerned that there is a great deal of confusion in the community regarding legal rights and in particular over recent class action cases that have been filed against the Iranian regime. To be clear, our firm is not involved in and we do not support these class actions. We believe that each family should have the benefit of individual legal assessments, not a group claim.
It is our collective opinion, based on years of experience in Aviation Litigation, that, at this time, naming the Iranian Government and Military is not in the best interest of our clients who lost their loved ones on UIA PS752. It is our view that the risks of this approach greatly outweigh any benefits in naming the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard in litigation.
It is our belief that working with the Canadian Government through diplomacy will prove to be a more effective method of helping families who have suffered as a result of this tragedy.
