The Brain Injury Society of Toronto is a community non-profit supporting those living with the effects of acquired brain injury. Its members are children, young adults, parents, spouses, grandparents, professional and service providers. Membership is open to anyone.
BIST's mission is to enhance the quality of life for people in the City of Toronto, living with the effects of acquired brain injury through education, awareness, support and advocacy.
BIST was established in 2004 by a steering committee made up of stakeholders – including people with ABI, family members and people who work in ABI support and rehabilitation in collaboration with the Ontario Brain Injury Association. Today, BIST is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing community stakeholders including: survivors, service providers, educators and professionals.
