Victoria Yang Co-Moderates FACL Residential School Survivors Panel

On Friday, April 22, 2022 HSH Associate Victoria Yang will be co-moderating a panel conversation featuring three brothers from Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation, who attended St. Marguerite Residential School in Fort Frances for many years.

Victoria and her co-moderator Carissa Wong will lead an organic conversation with Kelvin, Dennis and Ernie Morrison who will speak about the history of residential schools in Canada, their personal experiences and the significant impact of the residential school system on their family and community. The session is intended to increase lawyers’ understanding of the ongoing effect of systemic barriers and intergenerational trauma, and the role of culture, in order to better serve their Indigenous clients’ needs.

The online session is being hosted by the Women’s Committee of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL), and will be presented via Zoom conference on Friday, April 22, 2022. For more information or to register, please visit the FACL event page.
