HSH Partner Melissa Miller was recently interviewed by several media outlets seeking her opinion and analysis of the recent Liberal party election pledge to increase funding for long-term care homes. Melissa explained the need for federal standards for the long-term care industry and noted that, while long-term care homes are regulated at the provincial level, the federal government can leverage several tools at its disposal to implement change.
Although the conversation was sparked by the announcement of electoral campaign promises, Melissa noted, “This isn’t a political issue – it’s a matter of human rights and very basic standards of care.”
