2015PosterEditHowie, Sacks & Henry is proud of our strategic partnership with THREE TO BE. THREE TO BE’s mission is to support and advance the development of innovative research, therapies and education for children with neurological disorders and their families.   Our partnership with this organization focuses on education and empowerment for families through the PAL (Parents Advocacy Link) program. But we also love to help celebrate THREE TO BE’s achievements.

On Thursday October 22, THREE TO BE hosted the inaugural CONNECT event – an exclusive VIP dinner for business leaders, philanthropists, professionals and special guests.

Held at Andrew Richard Designs, this evening brought together donors and supporters who have helped form the foundation for THREE TO BE as well as new donors and inspired leaders who are propelling us forward as we grow and expand our reach.

Guests enjoyed an unforgettable evening as we welcomed RJ Mitte, best known for his role as Walter White Jr. on the award-winning Breaking Bad, who spoke about his experiences as an actor living with CP and his personal advocacy efforts for people with disabilities.

Last year at the Stems of Hope Gala, we awarded Cheryl with a Hero Award for her son Jordan.  It was such a joy to share with all those who spoke of the tremendous inspiration Jordan was to everyone around him and the determination with which he faced all of the many challenges and obstacles in his life.  He was a true miracle baby and a blessing to his family.   All of us at Howie, Sacks and Henry were deeply saddened to hear the news of Jordan’s passing in September.

That is why we are so pleased to announce the creation of the Jordan Runstedler Memorial Award.  Each year, we will sponsor a $1000 award to be given to a family in the THREE TO BE community, to be used for a truly family experience.

Cheryl Runstedler gave a touching tribute to her son and the support of the PAL community

As we have learned from  Cheryl and her family, in the end that was all that really mattered – bringing as much joy and opportunity to Jordan’s life and doing what brings happiness as a family.  Those are the memories that we hope to play a small role in creating for other families going forward.

Jordan’s mom Cheryl made a touching speech about how blessed they were that Jordan chose them to be his parents and just how much the THREE TO BE PAL community has meant to her and her husband.

2014 HSH Champions Award

HSH lawyer Meghan Hull Jacquin presented the THREE TO BE Champions Award to Jordan Runstedler at the Stems for Hope Gala in Toronto on Nov. 8, 2014.

Why is THREE TO BE Unique?

What THREE TO BE does has never been done before.  There is a community of scientists, doctors, parents and donors that are coming together in a most dynamic way, all because of THREE TO BE.  We are making change happen.  What this community knows and continues to learn is propelling us forward.

Proceeds from CONNECT will fund two important initiatives:

  1. Accelerating our involvement in a collaborative, multi-centred research initiative investigating the potential for brain repair in children with brain disorders, and
  2. Deepening and expanding our support for children and their families beyond the borders of the GTA to all corners of Ontario.

About Parent Advocacy Link (PAL)

PALSignHSH is particularly proud of THREE TO BE’s commitment to families through their Parent Advocacy Link (PAL) program. We contribute to the program by providing legal education and support, helping parents get answers to some tough questions.

If you are a parent, caregiver or someone who works with children with neurological disorders, the THREE TO BE Parent Advocacy Link (PAL) provides information, support and a secure online forum to share.
