Howie, Sacks and Henry LLP was once again a proud sponsor of Smash 4 SickKids volleyball tournament in St. Catharines on Saturday, August 9, 2014, in memory of the life of Aiden Douthwaite who tragically passed away on May 1, 2007 at the tender age of four. Aiden is remembered dearly by his parents Mark and Jennifer, and his older sister, Meghan.
Howie, Sacks and Henry partner, Howard Blitstein, represented the family in a medical malpractice claim for the wrongful death of Aiden:
It truly was the most heart wrenching, emotionally difficult case I have ever been involved in. No legal remedy could ever take away the pain that Aiden’s family feels and make this wonderful family whole again. The only comfort I, or the family, takes from this is that we know that the same mistakes won’t be made again. Aiden’s parents and sister, along with their family and friends have turned this terrible tragedy into a positive, heartfelt fundraiser for the Hospital for Sick Children and they should be commended for that. I, unfortunately, never knew Aiden but nevertheless he will forever have a special place in my heart.
