Tabletop Fire Pits Warning: Potential Burn Risks for Owners

Table top fire pits have grown in popularity in recent years. But so have the number of warnings issued by regulators.

Canadians who own Colsen-branded fire pits or a similar type of alcohol-fueled tabletop fire bowlpot, or pit should be aware of potential dangers associated with tabletop fire pits. People operating or sitting near these tabletop fire pits have suffered serious burns, and regulators warn users are at risk of sustaining serious or fatal injuries

Almost 90,000 Colsen-branded fire pits manufactured between January 2020 and July 2024 are subject to a recall order issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the United State of America.

Although the recall of this specific product has not yet extended to Canada, HSH has already been contacted by a Canadian who suffered injuries while using a Colsen-brand fire pit. For more than five years, Health Canada has issued a slew of recall notices and warnings about the dangers of similar products.

What You Need To Know

Despite years of regulatory warnings about the incredible risks of flame jetting from these products, inadequate safety labelling, and the recent American recall, certain retailers continue to sell Colsen-branded fire pits and similar types of alcohol-fueled tabletop fire bowl, pot, or pit in Canada to date.
