Congratulations to the 2016/17 Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Section Chairs on their appointments, including HSH Partner Brad Moscato (Chair of the Long Term Disability Section), Associate Melissa Miller (Chair of the New Lawyers Division) and Law Clerk Tania Harris (Vice-Chair of the Law Clerks Section).
Chair of the Long Term Disability (LTD) Section
Brad Moscato continues his role as the Chair of the Long Term Disability Section, a role he has held since 2015.
The Long Term Disability Section is dedicated to enhancing the ability of OTLA members to seek redress for clients in conflict with their disability insurers.
Chair of the New Lawyers Division (NLD)
Melissa Miller, past Vice-Chair of the New Lawyers Section, is now the Chair of the New Lawyers Division (NLD).
All members of OTLA who have been practising for less than 10 years may participate in OTLA’s New Lawyers Division. Officially formed in May 1995, the NLD seeks to specifically address the needs and interests of new lawyers through conferences and events. NLD gatherings provide valuable networking opportunities which enable new lawyers to get together to socialize, discuss common concerns and experiences, and to help each other by sharing ideas.
Vice-Chair of the Law Clerk Section
Tania Harris is now the Vice-Chair of the Law Clerk Section.
OTLA’s Law Clerk Section meets twice annually at the OTLA Spring and Fall Conferences, plus round table meetings are organized throughout the province.
About OTLA
The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) was formed in 1991 by lawyers acting for plaintiffs. Our purpose is to promote access to justice for all Ontarians, preserve and improve the civil justice system, and advocate for the rights of those who have suffered injury and losses as the result of wrongdoing by others, while at the same time advocating strongly for safety initiatives.
